U4GM Tips for PoE 2 Grand Architect Beam Survival - Glico - 23-07-2026

Pressure starts building long before the Grand Architect reaches its last phase. In PoE 2, this Trial of Ascendance boss punishes the habit of spending every second attacking, especially when an arena mechanic is about to begin. Bring enough defenses, keep a little room in your budget for upgrades through Path of Exile 2 Currency, and treat positioning as part of your DPS plan. A dead character with a perfect damage build still loses the attempt.
The octagon rewards calm movement

The arena is a perfect octagon, with stationary Aether Crystals at the north, south, east, and west corners. Those crystals are more than scenery: they are your line-of-sight cover during the Architect's wider laser sequences. Don't drift into the middle of the room just because the boss has moved. Keep track of the closest crystal while dealing damage, so you already know where to retreat when the screen becomes busy. Newer players often panic-roll around a crystal and clip the very beam they were trying to avoid. Use the obstacle deliberately, then step back out once the danger has passed.
Read the floor before the Grid Beam Array fires

When the Grand Architect teleports to the center, levitates, and paints glowing blue lines across the floor, stop thinking about damage windows. The lines become lethal Aether Beams roughly two seconds later and apply heavy continuous lightning damage to anyone standing on them. The safe spaces are diamond-shaped gaps between the grid lines. Pick the nearest one, move to its center, and stay there. Trying to squeeze in one extra attack or repeatedly rolling through the pattern is where most clean runs fall apart. A mobile build has an easier time reaching a safe diamond, but even slow melee can survive consistently by reacting to the telegraph instead of reacting after the beams start.
Shield breaks are a target-priority check

At 75% and 25% health, the Architect moves to the northern platform and gains an absolute Invincibility Shield. Eastern and western portals spawn Architect Constructs that channel energy into it, so the boss itself is not the target until both constructs are down. Melee characters should close on the western construct first with Leap Slam, Roll, or their usual mobility option, burst it, then cross to the east. Ranged builds can work from the southern quadrant, where piercing attacks or area spells may hit both constructs while reducing exposure to their mini-projectiles. Don't blow every flask before this transition; arriving with no recovery or mitigation is a common way to lose momentum.
The last 15% is about surviving, not racing

Below 15% health, the Architect destroys all four Aether Crystals and removes the cover that carried the earlier fight. Its lightning volleys become rapid and untelegraphed, so rotate flasks with intent: use a Topaz Flask first for lightning mitigation, bring up Granite when Topaz is near 20% duration for incoming shockwaves, and reserve an instant life flask for sudden critical shock. Saving a few POE 2 Chaos Orbs for defensive fixes can make this PoE 2 endgame kill far less punishing.
